Food Day Activities: Attend an Event

Searching “Washington, DC” on the Food Day website will give you over 100 events happening right here in the beltway! While Slow Food DC hasn’t organized a specific event for Food Day, we are hoping you will find plenty of activities and events that satisfy your craving for Food.

Here’s a few that look interesting:

K Street Food Truck Rally
Franklin Square will be host to dozens of food trucks all bringing you the message of Food Day along with tasty lunch options.

Inaugural Bike Blender Smoothie Sale
Members of the GW Student Food Co-op Initiative will unveil their very own bike powered blender and will be serving up delicious smoothies made with local and healthy ingredients.

Busboys and Poets film screening:
A Community of Gardeners
Screening the documentary A Community of Gardeners, about the role seven Washington, DC community gardens play in the lives and communities of DC.

Bread for the City’s Food Day Fair
Starting at 4:30pm, Bread for the City will be holding a Food Day Fair. Learn about the work Bread for the City does, taste samples and get information on nutrition, learn about eligibility for food stamps. Film screening included

Food Day Extravaganza
On the Woodrow Wilson Plaza, 13th and Pennsylvania Ave NW, join the DCMADA (DC Metro Area Dietetic Association) and the CHoP (Capital Harvest on the Plaza) Farm Market for entertainment, demos and more.

There are so many to choose from, I feel a little bad to pick a few random events and post them here. Please, do spend a little time finding an event that speaks to you! The local DC Food Day blog and Facebook page also have a multitude of events (with better descriptions than the foodday.org list)

No matter what you end up doing, we hope you’ll share your stories with us. Just tag Slow Food DC in your Facebook posts, share your pictures on our Flickr group, or let us know on twitter (@SlowFoodDC)!
