Event Recap: Central Table Dinner Featuring 5 Snail of Approval Winners
Slow Food DC Board members with Snail of Approval Awardees at Central Table Vol. III Dinner
Slow Food DC featured five of our Snail of Approval-winning producers in a recent chef-led dinner hosted by Chef Kevin Arwood of District Forks. For Volume Three of this pop-up dinner series, Kevin sought to partner with Slow Food DC to source more local and sustainable foods as well as better engage the local audience interested in supporting our local food system. We connected him with five Snail of Approval winners from across the DMV region, including:
Slow Food DC also supported promotion among our local network, engaged with attendees throughout the event, and provided seeds from our Share a Seed program (all representing Slow Food’s Ark of Taste) and upcoming events in attendees’ swag bags. We were thrilled to see the exciting conversations and new connections inspired by this event.

Chef Kevin shared four delicious courses, each featuring ingredients from these producers—including chickens from Deep Roots Farm, tomatoes from ECO City Farms, Cave Dweller cheese from FireFly, various wines from Rocklands Winery, and buttermilk from South Mountain Creamery. And we were honored to have Farmer Gale, Wilma, and Greg from Deep Roots Farm, ECO City Farms, and Rocklands Winery (respectively) in attendance.

If you didn’t have a chance to attend this dinner but would like to do so in the future, Chef Kevin plans to host his next dinner in November 2026, so check his Instagram page @district_forks for updates. And for our Snail of Approval winners who didn’t get the opportunity to engage, please email us if you’d like to partner with Slow Food on implementing more events like this in the future.
